I am taking on a music challenge where I find songs that match the spirit of each of the 78 cards in the Tarot. For the Two of Swords, I chose “Some Like It Hot” by Power Station.
The Two of Swords is a card about having to make a stark decision, usually between two clear oppositions, such as yes/no, black/white, left/right. Both options have their pros and cons so it’s difficult to choose.
“Some Like It Hot” describes such a choice:
Some like it hot, and some sweat when the heat is on
Some feel the heat and decide that they can’t go on
Some like it hot, but you can’t tell how hot till you try
Some like it hot, so let’s turn up the heat till we fry
In this case, the dilemma involves a relationship in which one person wants to get married and the other feels pressured to say whether they will agree to it or not. They are being put in the hot seat:
The girl is at your side, are you gonna do it?
She wants to be your bride, are you gonna do it?
She wants to multiply, are you gonna do it?
I know you won’t be satisfied until you do it…
