The full moon in Pisces is exact on September 17 at 10:35 p.m. eastern time. It is close enough to the north node in Aries to be considered a partial lunar eclipse. From start to finish, the earth’s shadow will begin to cover the upper portion of the moon on September 17 at 8:41 p.m., peak at 10:44 p.m., and completely recede on September 18 at 12:47 a.m. (all eastern times).
Even a partial eclipse can be extremely powerful energetically, and this full moon/lunar eclipse is no exception. This moon cycle will be a great opportunity to let go of emotional and mental baggage and to adjust your behavior and actions in order to make positive changes in your life. It’s also a time to review how far you’ve come over time toward reaching your goals and to actually reap the benefits from the hard work you’ve put in.
However, remember that eclipse energy often brings situations to you to manage, instead of the other way around. If that is the case for you, it may help to keep your goals front and center as you work to resolve any issues.
It’s interesting to note that the north node will enter Pisces in January of 2025—mere months from now. So, it’s possible that any themes that surface now may carry over into 2025-2026 when the nodes change signs and the eclipses will primarily be in the Pisces/Virgo axis.
To work with the energies of the full moon/lunar eclipse in Pisces is to think about Pisces traits. These traits include being intuitive, emotional, adaptable, imaginative, and spiritual. Neptune, the ruling planet of Pisces, is also in the sign of Pisces right now and only a few degrees away from the full moon. This may lend support to Pisces’ positive traits—and its challenging traits, as well.
The eclipse energy may heighten overall emotional intensity: Remember that if your own emotions become unusually intense. Also, be careful of using escapism as a coping strategy, which is a shadow aspect of the Pisces archetype, such as ignoring problems and abusing mood-altering substances. Mindfulness and moderation will go a long way.
Saturn is in Pisces, as well, although it is currently retrograde and further away from the moon by degree than Neptune is. Nevertheless, Saturn in Pisces may help to remedy the shadow tendency of Pisces to be dreamy or unrealistic. As I have mentioned in an earlier post, Saturn in Pisces encourages us to find practical ways to make dreams a reality and stay on task.
Putting this all together, the advice is to ride the waves of this full moon/lunar eclipse all through this moon cycle and through to the new moon/solar eclipse in Libra in two weeks from now. Practice self-care. This could be a powerful time for emotional healing, coming up with creative solutions to problems, and gathering the strength to carry on despite fears and doubts.
