I’ve heard people say that self-care is more than just bubble baths and eating bon bons.
But why? There are many, many ways to practice self-care, and on any given day, soaking in the tub, eating sweet treats, or having a spa day could be just what the doctor ordered.
It’s not just about the creature comforts in and of themselves. It’s also about taking time from your busy life to relax, melt cares away, and pamper your body. Sometimes moderation is called for and sometimes It’s okay to delight the senses for the pure pleasure of it—without guilt or the fear of being judged.
The key is to practice self-care mindfully, with the intention to nurture your inner child, strengthen your sense of self-worth, reduce stress, honor your physical/emotional/spiritual needs, and achieve balance in your life. Depending on your current situation, journaling, meditation, decluttering your living space, eating healthy foods, staying hydrated, exercising, and yes, having a pizza party are all valid ways to practice self-care!
