I am taking on a music challenge where I find songs that match the spirit of each of the 78 cards in the Tarot.

For the Eight of Cups, I chose “Remember the Name” by Fort Minor. Fort Minor was a side project led by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park fame.

“Remember the Name” centers on the hard work and dedication it takes to be good at what you do. In this rap song, each person takes turns to bear witness to the time, effort, and passion they put into honing their craft. The chorus proclaims:

This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill

Fifteen percent concentrated power of will

Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain

And a hundred percent reason to remember the name
