Tarot Card Meditation: Four of Swords

The Four of Swords suggests that it is time to mentally detach from worries and concerns. If you are sensitive and self-aware, it’s important to regularly clear your energy field of heaviness. This image is from the Fountain Tarot.

There are so many ways to meditate. One way is to set the intention to completely empty the mind of thought. You can start by getting into a comfortable position, dimming the lights if you prefer, and taking deep breaths. Then attempt to think of nothing. Nothing at all.

Don’t despair if you can’t erase your thoughts for more than a few seconds or without falling asleep. Thoughts are constantly intruding, especially in this day and age, where our minds are accustomed to constant stimulation. Even with practice, it’s hard to surrender to the silence completely.

The next best thing is to allow thoughts to drift in and out. If a thought comes to you, do not engage it or try to make sense of it. Just to let it be without judgment and gently let it go.

If you feel more comfortable doing something, ask the Universe to slowly fill you with Universal love from head to toe. This is a reiki-like practice. As you fill up with love, allow negativity to be released in equal measure. Use the love energy to heal physical and emotional wounds.
