Tarot Card Meditation: Eight of Wands and Three of Swords

(A version of this post originally appeared on my Patreon page in December, 2023. Join to unlock daily Tarot readings and more. Free memberships also are available.)

The Eight of Wands is asking you to tap into your fire energy, which means to follow your passions and take the actions needed to complete goals you have set for yourself. Fire energy is also associated with spirituality. Based on this image from the After Tarot, you are encouraged to aim high and see where the adventure takes you.

The Three of Swords in this deck doesn’t focus on any pain you may feel but rather on healing from heartache and disappointment. With today being the December solstice, this is the darkest day of the year for us in the northern hemisphere and a brand new start tomorrow.

Today, let the past go, like an archer shooting an arrow into the air. Becoming a happier person starts with your desire and passion to feel better and doing what needs to be done to reach that goal. Use the symbolism of the solstice to remind you that it’s always darkest before the dawn. Brighter days are ahead.

Tarot Card Meditation: Queen of Cups

Queen of Cups from the Deviant Moon Tarot

(A version of this post originally appeared on my Patreon page on March 5, 2024. Join to unlock daily Tarot readings and more. Free memberships also are available.)

In this image of the Queen of Cups from the Deviant Moon Tarot, and even in the Rider-Waite-Smith version, the character seems to concentrate intensely on the contents of the cup.

At its best, this represents being in touch with your emotions, tapped into your intuition, and compassionate toward the people you come into contact with. On the shadow side, there can be delusion.

Delusion, as I see it, is believing things are the way you want them to be instead of the way they are so as to avoid the pain of acceptance. It’s an unhelpful way to regulate emotions.

I can relate to that because I had used delusion as a coping mechanism for many years. I also think about my late mom. In her astrological chart, she had five planets in Pisces—a sensitive water sign that can be prone to wearing rose-colored glasses. And God love her, she had her moments.

The thing is that you can be productive and successful in nearly every area of your life and still be lost in your own emotional world.

Anger, sadness, and frustration are part of the emotional landscape. To truly be in control of your feelings is to acknowledge pain as well as joy.

Comments are welcome.

Tarot Card Meditation: Six of Clouds (Swords)

(A version of this post originally appeared on my Patreon page on November 26, 2022. Join to unlock daily tarot readings and more. Free memberships also are available.)

Collectively speaking, life in these past few months has been challenging. It’s probably safe to say that we’re all looking for some relief from the extreme pressure we’ve been under. The Six of Clouds (Swords) confirms that relief is possible. It’s about moving from a place of chaos to a more peaceful existence.

However, the Six of Clouds is not about being miraculously transported to a state of happiness. It’s a card about making a conscious decision to act accordingly.

In this image from the Night Magick Tarot, you can see the planet you’re on. Although the sky’s dark, there are stars that light the way to the peaceful destination above.

Here is something to think about today: If you want to feel better, the key is to make a decision to go where the situation is better, whether that’s a physical location or a mental one. It may be a matter of deciding to change your attitude.

Even good decisions can come with a bit of resistance and difficulty. Pushing through it anyway usually turns out to be more than worth the trouble.

Tarot Card Meditation: King of Hearts

King of Heart (Cups) from the Illuminated Tarot

(A version of this post originally appeared on my Patreon page on January 9, 2024. Join to unlock daily tarot readings and more. Free memberships and 7-day free trials are available.)

One of the things I love about this amazing deck, the Illuminated Tarot, is that the deck creator, Caitlin Keegan, suggests alternate ways to interpret the cards.

With the King of Heart (Cups), the key phrase she provides is “sensitivity and creativity channeled into professional success.” Professionalism is not often associated with the King of Hearts, but it makes total sense to me.

A really good skill to have in the workplace is knowing how to regulate your emotions, from entry level to boardroom. For instance, it helps to be brave when first learning a job, such as asking questions when you need help instead of being embarrassed, as well as to control your temper when you are frustrated. And it’s nice to have a supervisor who is compassionate while at the same time maintaining healthy boundaries, in addition to coming up with creative solutions to problems.

Keep in mind that it’s not about playing to the crowd to get acceptance. It’s just that the King of Hearts can express themselves honestly without tearing themselves or others down.

Tarot Card Meditation: Knight of Cups

From the Somnia Tarot.

(A version of this post originally appeared on my Patreon page on April 30, 2023. Join to unlock daily tarot readings like this one. Free memberships and 7-day free trials are available.)

Today’s card is the Knight of Cups. I love this image from the Somnia Tarot because it captures the gentile characteristics also shown in the Rider-Waite-Smith version of this card—so prime, proper, and debonair.

And just like in the RWS version where the Knight seems to be offering a cup, this Knight is also giving by pouring water into the lake. Water represents emotions in the suit of Cups and this Knight is surrounded by it. It’s even raining!

Today, consider being generous with your emotions. Let the people you like, love, or admire know how you feel about them. By the same token, you could share how you feel about anything, admitting if you are happy or sad or any emotion in between. The key is to be vulnerable enough to share your heart.

When the time is right, being open and transparent is charismatic and irresistible. People get to understand who you truly are and they often can relate to how you feel because they have been there or are feeling much the same way in the present moment. Don’t be surprised if they are inspired to open up to you.

Give love and don’t be surprised if you get it back. Enjoy your day.❤️

Tarot Card Meditation: The Ace of Wands

(A version of this post originally appeared on my Patreon page on June 27, 2021. Join to unlock daily tarot readings like this one. Free memberships and 7-day free trials are available!)

The Ace of Wands is an amazing energy. It’s the spark of creativity we get when we fully invest in our lives.

The Ace of Wands is about using that passion to come up with a new idea. But in order for that to happen, you have to be in tune with your own soul.

That is hard to do sometimes because we are so busy with our day-to-day activities. It’s easy to be on autopilot trying to get things done and then not having enough energy to do anything else besides that.

I like to think of the Ace of Wands as a match, lighter, or anything that is used to start a fire. Your soul is the entity that starts the fire. If you are in a creative mood, write down your ideas to flesh them out. The New moon on July 9th is the perfect time to actually put those plans out into the world

If you are lacking inspiration, take a few minutes out of your busy day to center yourself and tap into your innermost desires. What would you do if you had no limitations—all the time in the world and the energy to do it? Make a note of it. Then promise yourself to spend a few minutes each day working on your idea. Three to 5 minutes of your time a day surely can’t hurt!

Have a beautiful day.

Tarot Card Meditation: The Alien (The Hermit)

The Alien (The Hermit) from the Starman Tarot.

(A version of this post originally appeared on my Patreon page on April 4, 2021. Join to unlock daily tarot readings like this one. A 7-day free trial is available!)

The Alien in the Starman Tarot corresponds to the Hermit in the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck. The Alien is someone who by choice becomes a stranger to this world. This gives them the space to contemplate the profound aspects of life.

Some people remove themselves from the world mentally by remaining detached. Or, they could choose to live a hermit-like lifestyle for many years.

It could also be that you take a break for a period of time to think things through on your own. Perhaps you stay off social media for a while or even limit day-to-day contact with family/friends outside of your household. Sometimes being quiet draws attention to yourself. People wonder what’s going on!

Once you come back to the world you left—if you choose to come back—you’re different. Wiser. You look rested and at peace. People see how you’ve changed and want the peace of mind you have for themselves. You become the example.

If you need to retreat or take it easy today with as few distractions as possible, then go for it wholeheartedly. Sometimes we all need to take a break in order to return refreshed and renewed.

Have a beautiful day.

Tarot Card Meditation: The Four Of Wands

Today’s card is the Four of Wands from the Wild Unknown Tarot. The Four of Wands is about completion and celebration. This card often represents going to an event, such as a party or cookout. Is something like that happening for you?

You can also celebrate the small things, like last night’s good sleep, or the quiet day today you can spend by yourself relaxing.

And celebrations don’t have to be elaborate. It could be simply be a nice cup of coffee or tea, feeling grateful for the here and now.

Tarot Card Meditation: The Emperor

From the Angle Tarot by Jayne Wallace.

Today’s card, the Emperor (Angel of Wisdom) from the Angel Tarot, is all about taking control. In the best of situations, that means leading with a compassionate heart and considering the best interests of everyone involved.

But sometimes that means having to make tough decisions that are not popular. You can’t always please everyone.

Today, step into your sovereignty. Use your wisdom and logic to solve any problems that arise. And have the confidence to know that you are more than capable of making the right decision.

Have a wonderful day.

Tarot Card Meditation: Son (Knight) of Cups

The Son (Knight) of Cups from the Wild Unknown Tarot

(A version of this post originally appeared on my Patreon page on August 28, 2021. Join to unlock daily tarot readings like this one. 7-day free trial)

Our card is the Son of Cups from the Wild Unknown Tarot. The card represents a gentle energy. It’s about being in the water of pleasant emotions and enjoying the experience.

I can’t help but look at the difference between this gentle energy and all the disturbing events that are happening around the world. I think that we each have to deal with these larger issues as individual people in the various ways that we can. That starts with making sure that you are whole within yourself. If you choose to do anything at all, our card suggests that you approach the day with a loving attitude.

Hang out with people who “get” you, whether it’s a group, special friend, family member, or significant other. Be supportive of each other and just have fun.

If you are spending time alone today, practice self-care. The Son of Cups encourages you to do anything creative, such as drawing, writing, cooking, making music, listening to music, or watching a good movie. Meditation is also a great idea as the Son of Cups is about tapping into your intuition, as well.

Incorporate water into your day. Drink it and stay hydrated. Take a long soak in the tub and use your favorite essential oils or bath salts. Go for a swim.

Sometimes we are in a position where we have to take action. But in order to be ready for those moments, we need days like this one, where we soothe our emotions, recover from recent stresses, and come back to ourselves.

Your thoughts?

Have a beautiful day.
