New Moon in Scorpio — How To Work With The Energies

The new moon in Scorpio is exact on November 20 at 1:47 a.m. eastern.

Mercury will conjunct the sun, and of course the new moon, on November 20, as well. The sun conjunct a planet is called a cazimi. The sun is symbolically shining a light with laser focus on the Mercury, in this instance. This cazimi also marks the halfway point of Mercury retrograde. After this point, you may get a better handle on any issues that have challenged you during the retrograde.

It also happens that the new moon is opposite Uranus in Taurus, which is also retrograde. With Uranus being the planet of unexpected and sometimes shocking events, you may experience a wake-up call of some sort. With all of this retrograde energy in the cosmos (including Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune), a lot of the activity may be internal, changing you inside.

To work with the energies of this new moon, think of how you can embody Scorpio traits. As Scorpio is a water sign co-ruled by Pluto (with Mars), this new moon brings with it an opportunity for deep emotional transformation. The goal is to claim your power—or reclaim it if you have given it away.

Think of the Death card in the tarot, which is associated with the zodiac sign of Scorpio. The Death card is symbolic of change and transformation manifested through your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Whatever you decide to let go of, know that there is a new day dawning and a bright future.
